Amira, a Therapeutic Case manager, works closely with clients to develop individualized goals to address their needs and emotional, psychological, and social well-being. She advocates and helps them navigate complex legal processes, access healthcare services, and connect them with community resources like food and material needs. She is currently studying at The Catholic University of America with the aspirations to become a Social Worker; she is a community activist, caring deeply about issues around access to mental health services, government funding for community schools, and the rights of asylum seekers, asylees, and refugees. Amira is a member of the Board of Trustees of YouthBuild Public Charter School, has volunteered extensively with Martha’s Table and The Salvation Army, and is a former AsylumWorks Ambassador. She has a certificate in Community Health Work, Social Work Practice, Cultural Competency and Trauma-Informed Strategies, Human Rights Education Training, Reasonable Accommodation, and Adult Mental Health First Aid. She is a certified Community Health Advisor. Amira is fluent in Fullah and Krio.
