Welcome to AsylumWorks. We are a private nonprofit organization built to provide tailored services to empower newcomers seeking safety, regardless of language or country of origin. Our services are free and available to individuals and families living in Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Northern Virginia.
Our services are currently available to asylum seekers, asylees, Afghan humanitarian parolees, special immigrant visa holders (SIVs), and resettled refugees.
Please note: AsylumWorks will close our waitlist when staff cannot begin working with new clients in a timely manner. If you cannot register for services, please check back on the first business day of the month to see if the waitlist has reopened.
Click HereThe U.S. immigration system is like a tall, dark, and winding staircase. Over time, climbing the stairs can feel exhausting, painful, and scary. AsylumWorks was created so that newcomers seekers seeking safety do not have to climb the stairs alone.
Direct client services are free and available to individuals and families living in parts of Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Northern Virginia, regardless of language or country of origin.
AsylumWorks receives requests for help every day. To join the waitlist, please click the link ‘new client questionnaire’ above. The form is available in English, Spanish, Amharic, French, Dari and Pashto.
No, our services are completely free.
AsylumWorks staff generally work with clients between six months to one year. Our goal is to help you get back on your feet so you can become self-reliant.
AsylumWorks occasionally closes its new client waitlist. If you are unable to register for services, please revisit this page on the first business day of next month to see if the waitlist has reopened. We understand this may be disappointing, but we hope to work with you in the future.
After completing the waitlist questionnaire, an AsylumWorks staff member will contact you when it is your turn for an intake appointment. You will be invited to our office for an in-person meeting. We can provide a transportation stipend if local travel to our office is too expensive.
During the appointment, we will explain our services and ask questions to learn more about your needs. You will be asked to sign our New Client Welcome Letter. At that time, you will become an AsylumWorks client and be eligible for services and support from both AsylumWorks and our community partners.
