Our Impact

From learning to navigate public transportation to reuniting with family—we celebrate every client victory as a meaningful step toward safety, stability, and self-sufficiency. After six months of services, AsylumWorks clients reported the following gains:

Developing Community Leadership

AsylumWorks is proud to employ bilingual and bicultural staff who hail from the same newcomer communities we serve. To ensure our organization remains community-led, we have established an innovative one-year on-the-job training program that develops former clients into therapeutic case managers. This program enables them to provide culturally responsive services to new clients while building meaningful careers.
Fellows undergo intensive training and receive weekly supervision from licensed social workers. Upon completion, graduates are quickly hired by local organizations, including AsylumWorks. In 2023, the U.S. Office of Refugee Resettlement recognized our training program as a national best practice, encouraging other organizations across the country to adopt our model as a way to build professional pathways while providing culturally and linguistically appropriate support.

What do community leaders look like?

In summer 2024, AsylumWorks graduated our third class of fellows chosen to participate in our innovative on-the-job training program. Post-graduation, these newly trained helping professionals will bring their bilingual and bicultural expertise to community-based organizations across the region.
