ABOUT US
AsylumWorks was founded in 2016 to address the holistic needs of individuals and families navigating the U.S. immigration system. Our mission is to empower newcomers seeking safety to overcome health, employment, and legal challenges. Our interdisciplinary approach combines Health & Wellness, Employment & Education, and Legal Navigation services to help clients rebuild healthy, safe, and self-sufficient lives. Services are free and available to newcomers living in the Washington, D.C. metro region, regardless of language or country of origin. Central to our approach is our commitment to hiring and training bilingual newcomers to support other newcomers. This ensures our services remain culturally responsive, impactful, and sustainable over time.
INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION
AsylumWorks is seeking a current law student or pre-law undergraduate to serve as a volunteer intern with our Legal Navigation program during the Spring 2026 semester. The intern will contribute at least 20 hours per week, providing practical support that strengthens client services and enhances overall program operations in alignment with our mission. The Legal Navigation Program Manager will supervise this position. This position requires regular in-office presence at our Dupont Circle location for hands-on learning.
This unpaid opportunity is ideal for a driven individual seeking experience in immigration legal services for asylum seekers, refugees, and humanitarian parolees. This internship will allow participants to connect
meaningfully with AsylumWorks staff and support critical immigration legal services for AsylumWorks clients. The Legal Navigation Program Manager will supervise the intern.
AsylumWorks recognizes that pursuing a degree is a pivotal time for students to learn about their professional goals and develop the skills needed to enter the professional sphere. While this internship is unpaid, the intern will have the opportunity to propose a related individual project that can add additional value to their professional portfolio outside of the internship duties.
