Congratulations to our Fellowship Class of 2024!

Coming to the U.S. to reunite with my dad after he was granted asylum was a dream come true for me. I had high hopes for a better life. But the realities on the ground were different from what I anticipated. Adjusting to the new culture and working towards a better life was very hard.

In my native language, there is a saying: ‘A pot on a three-legged stove does not fall.‘ On my journey toward a better life, I leaned on faith and family as two legs of the stool, but still, my life felt out of balance. Something was missing, but I didn’t know what that was until the fellowship program happened to me.

Today, I can say that through the fellowship program, I have found the third leg of the stool. With the tools and knowledge I gained, I now have the stability needed to secure a good job, provide for my family, and work toward my goals so I can achieve the better life I imagined for myself all those years ago.” – Adoudé, Class of 2024 Health & Wellness Fellow

Three years ago, AsylumWorks launched an innovative on-the-job training program to develop bilingual, bicultural newcomers into skilled helping professionals. On July 14, 2024, AsylumWorks proudly celebrated our Class of 2024 graduates! Congratulations to Adoudé, Ismail, Shafiq, and Zelalem!
